Seriously, you’re not going to believe this. But I only knew of the fact that fruits came from flowers when I was in my twelfth standard. It was when my bio teacher was making a casual statement that I took notice. My school did not have many students, it was a new school, it was more of a tution center. So I was the only one at class. And I asked her, what was she talking about. Fruits from flowers?

She couldn’t believe it. She knew I was dumb, but she did’nt expect this much. She smiled. laughed and explained. I was shocked! How did I miss that? All those years, what was I doing, and the irony was that Bio with English was my favorite subject! I reasoned with her.

Lotuses, where are the fruits!!!!!!????

Rose, Lily, Sunflower, I don’t see any fruits!

And they were flowers, were they not?

She agreed, but that does not change the fact that fruits come from flowers! Right?

Sadly right. After school, she asked many small kids the question in my presence, and all those little devils knew it!

Foundation, my foundation was at question! It was embarrasing, but I managed to smile through it. My theory that an embarassing situation is a reason for a smile after years, made me get through it.

I learned the importance of basics then, basics are everything. If you don’t have the basics, there is no use! I found many such things later on, not expanding them as well. Somewhere down the lane when I was growing up I missed the bus. Probably while I was dreaming in class or glancing over at the girl in class. No idea. I think of it now, what was I doing, I must have missed this fact over a hundred times, and how did I do that!?

No idea.

But still as a sign of self- justification, I add this picture.

Now this is a flower!

So the fact is fruits come from flowers. Maybe someday, this could be a phrase used for total ignorance.
